MOONCAKE is an AR-themed “cyberprep” webcomic that draws heavily on Asian mythology and western fairy tales, while aiming to tell a story about how advanced technocratic society may devolve into cyberpunk. When navigating through the story, toggle the 'glasses' icon to experience the story with augmented reality lenses on or off. High tech becomes low life. The street finds its own use for things.
MOONCAKE is written and illustrated without the use of AI. Updates every fortnight, on Fridays.

Jessica Gurd is a Canadian artist and narrator of science fiction who is best known for her work on the Delphi in Space series. Born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario, she spent her formative years reading science fiction and spending a lot of time in local theatre. After obtaining her degree in New Media from Toronto Metropolitan University, she lived and worked in China for a span of years, during which time she had an idea for a comic about the trickle-down effect of technocracy.
Presently she’s based in Kanata, narrating audiobooks, drawing Mooncake, and living off bubble tea. She hopes you enjoy Mooncake.
